I would like to get a little more performance out of the little 283. I only rebuilt it about 25,000 miles ago, and thus I don't really need another engine. Plus, this is the original block in one of 1710 V8 Nova Wagons built in 1965. So, I'd like to try to squeeze out as much performance and economy as I can from what I've got.

My plans are to install aluminum L98 heads from 1987-91 Corvettes, a mild cam, and a Tuned Port Injection setup. I have acquired all the parts I need except for the cam. I'll call the various camshaft companies when the time arises. Right now, I am just trying to learn as much as I can about the TPI components.

I think this will provide me a strong setup with the small displacement of the 283. The TPI runners were originally designed to produce good torque with the 305 engine. I can only hope that they will help the torque of my little mouse. I'd love to see an improvement in both power and gas mileage.

I'll will post updates on my progress here, as well as share any information and pointers I find along the way.
